First off, I live in the U.S. I enjoy some of the freedoms that living in the United States affords me. I would probably enjoy the ones that have been stripped away from the citizenry over the past few decades too. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with what used to be our Republic. I am not as deluded as some to think that I could not have a similar or more fulfilling life in another country. Just as some honestly feel that this is the best nation on the planet, there are several others that feel quite the same about theirs.

It’s been a while since my last post, thanks to an endless string of work and projects coupled with the nuisance of “holidays.” Unfortunately, my return to the blog will not be a joyous one. Not by a long shot. The thought of writing this post came to me at a time when I am pretty pissed off and have been for quite some time. This is one of the reasons that I have not written in the blog for a while. The subject of my discontentment will not be a popular one: America.

“You should at least have the decency to respect the beliefs of others!” I hear this quite a bit.  I feel that, unfortunately, too much respect is paid to the various religions in our country and their beliefs. I doubt that many Christians or Muslims, for example, can take that same approach when it comes to respecting my decision in choosing not to believe in their respective gods.

Another problem that I have had with religion in general is its moral codes. Specifically, moral precepts that those in an authoritative position tell us their religion holds in high esteem. I will only attempt to tackle a few of them here, specifically as they are linked to Christian beliefs. Many of these moral codes transcend religious barriers and are found duplicated amongst other religions,such as the Islamic faith.
