We’re Number…1???

First off, I live in the U.S. I enjoy some of the freedoms that living in the United States affords me. I would probably enjoy the ones that have been stripped away from the citizenry over the past few decades too. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with what used to be our Republic. I am not as deluded as some to think that I could not have a similar or more fulfilling life in another country. Just as some honestly feel that this is the best nation on the planet, there are several others that feel quite the same about theirs.

You’re a Geek When…

You are watching a show with your daughter on the TV. Let’s say that it is…Wubbzy. Something like this is on the screen…

Back to the Bible Program Proves God Exists

While driving around today, I happened to scan past a station that was carrying the “Back to the Bible” program. The theme of the week was announced, “How to Know That God Exists.” It perked my interest enough to listen as I am always looking to find the argument that absolutely proves that God exists. *sigh* Unfortunately, every single one of the arguments put forward were fallacious.

Time to Wake Up

It’s about time that we wake up from our slumber. It’s about time that we removed the blinders that are limiting our field of view. It’s about time that we took the next step as a species.

I have been asked on several occasions what exactly is my problem with religion. For the longest time, I really didn’t know where to begin to do the question justice. Now it’s a whole different ballgame. Lately, I have had some time to myself to really ask myself that very same question.  Now, I understand clearly what “it” was that kept me from submersing myself into any religious meme. Hopefully I will be able to convey everything that I have to say about it properly. A cautionary word before you continue reading: this post will jump all over the place. By the end of the post, I hope that I can tie it all up for you. My apologies in advance.

It’s Been a While

It’s been a while since my last post, thanks to an endless string of work and projects coupled with the nuisance of “holidays.” Unfortunately, my return to the blog will not be a joyous one. Not by a long shot. The thought of writing this post came to me at a time when I am pretty pissed off and have been for quite some time. This is one of the reasons that I have not written in the blog for a while. The subject of my discontentment will not be a popular one: America.

The Rage Within

I cannot express the amount of rage that I felt as I watched the film, “The Dying Room.” I wanted to, quite literally, beat the …

What Some May Think

Regardless of what some may think, this site does not exist to try to steer people “away from the faith,” whatever faith they may hold. This site exists solely as a place for me to express my journey and how I have gotten to where I have come so far. Many people have gotten the wrong impression of what I am and what I am doing. Hopefully, this post will clear up some of the confusion and I invite you comments, as always.

Documentary: Born Again

BORN AGAIN is the story of Director Markie Hancock’s evangelical upbringing and her 20-year struggle to get out.  Excerpts from Hancock’s journals, home movies and student films reveal the strong grip of fundamentalist religion.  As a child, she revels in the security that promises of eternal salvation bring to both her and her family.  Hancock only slowly begins to question the narrow path she has fervently followed when she falls in love with a woman.  It is in Berlin when she finally begins to free herself from religion and from the family she loves.  Ultimately, BORN AGAIN asks, at what price do we believe what we believe and how do we live with others who believe differently?

Westboro Baptist Church Spreads the Hate at Christmas

Notice all the small, impressionable, indoctrinated children holding up the signs and singing the lyrics of hate. I don’t care what people may think, this …

Respect My Authority!

“You should at least have the decency to respect the beliefs of others!” I hear this quite a bit.  I feel that, unfortunately, too much respect is paid to the various religions in our country and their beliefs. I doubt that many Christians or Muslims, for example, can take that same approach when it comes to respecting my decision in choosing not to believe in their respective gods.
